Emmaus List | Testimonies from Our Visitors

Emmaus List is a place for people to share personal testimonies of supernatural things God has done. All testimonies are subject to approval by the Chronically Christian staff. The goal is to create an email list that will be sent out occassionally to everyone on the "Emmaus List" with the goal of encouraging believers and strengthening their faith. The testimonies may be current or past events, just give some idea of which it is in the story.

“Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. --Luke 8:39

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God. --2 Timothy 1:8
The Emmaus List

A testimony from Kevin...

As a young man, in my 20’s, I was working part time at a Costco Wholesale Warehouse in Honolulu, Hawaii. I had no car and used the bus to go to and from work. If my shift ended after the bus route ended, I was dependent on roommates to pick me up.

One particular evening I was waiting on a roommate to pick me up, and after over an hour I realized he had forgotten me and everyone was probably headed for bed. I had no change on me and nothing was open in the area. I had no idea I could make a local collect call. I’m not sure why I thought a collect call had to be long distance, but I did. Having an early shift the next morning I realized I was probably going to be starting it after a long night sleeping on a bench. I decided it was time to do the only thing I knew to do, ask God for help.

Nervously I asked, “Holy Spirit, you know I’m stuck here with no ride. I know my roommates forgot me and are probably headed to bed. What should I do?”

Immediately the answer came to my mind, “Walk over to the payphones.”

With no idea what to do as I faced the payphones, I again asked, “Now what?”

This time I heard no words in my mind, but had a clear impression that I should hit the coin return on one of the three phones. Immediately quarters and dimes came pouring out, about $5 worth. I made the call and as I waited for my friend to arrive I tried the two payphones I didn’t try before… nothing. I tried the phone that had paid out before… nothing. With no idea what to do with the extra $5 in change, I put it in my pocket and counted it as an extra reward for faith!
