Even before the ignorance of the dark ages when men believed the earth was flat, the prophet Isaiah declared, "It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in." Isaiah 40:22 The expression clearly describes the earth as a sphere or globe.

The Book of Job says, "He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing." (Job 26:7) Pagans of his day thought the earth was balanced on the back of an elephant that rested on the back of a turtle. Others believed the mythological hero Atlas carried the earth on his shoulders. Only a century ago scientists believed that the earth and stars were supported by some kind of ether. Not only does the earth hang on "nothing", but astronomers recently revealed that the area to the north of the axis of our earth toward the polar star is almost empty of stars in contrast to the other directions. This relative emptiness in the direction to the North of our solar system is not visible to the naked eye. Obviously Job did not declare this from his own intelligence.

The complete hydrological cycle of evaporation, cloud formation, and precipitation are described in the Bible. "For he draws up the drops of water; they distill his mist in rain, which the skies pour down and drop on mankind abundantly. Can anyone understand the spreading of the clouds, the thunderings of his pavilion?" (Job 36:27-29) Job also says, "Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?" (Job 37:16) When you consider the weight of water compared to that of air it is amazing the amount of water that rises from oceans and lakes every hour to thousands of feet above where they remain suspended for long periods.

Primitive cultures of past centuries did not have a clear understanding of weather and climate patterns that controlled our planet, yet they are described in the Bible. Solomon stated, "The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns. " (Ecclesiastes 1:6) How did Solomon know three thousand years ago that the planetary winds followed in a circular pattern from south to north and back south again? Job says, "For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens. When he gave to the wind its weight and apportioned the waters by measure, when he made a decree for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder, then he saw it and declared it; he established it, and searched it out. " (Job 28:24-27) Amazingly, scientists have discovered that wind and air patterns are governed by their weight.

A slight change in the electrical charge within a cloud is one of the key factors that cause microscopic water droplets in clouds to join with others until they are heavy enough to fall to earth. We also now know that that an electrical charge as high as 300 million volts in a cloud sends a leader stroke down through the air to the ground. Within 1/50th of a second later a second more powerful return stroke travels back up to the cloud following the path through the air opened by the leader stroke. The super heating of the air in this channel causes it to expand quickly, creating the noise of thunder. Amazingly the book of Job touches on these very facts! "He made a law for the rain and a way for the lightning of the thunder." (Job 28:26)

The Law of the Conservation of Angular Momentum states that anything that flies off a spinning object will also spin in the same direction. If the universe came from an explosion of a spinning dot, why are their galaxies and planets spinning in opposite directions? Venus, Uranus and possibly Pluto rotate in the opposite direction from the rest of the planets in our solar system. 8 of 91 known moons spin in the opposite direction from the rest.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics states that everything tends towards chaos without the addition of energy. The addition of that energy must be purposeful. The theory of evolution postulates that the exact opposite happens randomly. A law is something that is observable and unchanging. A theory is just something cooked up in the mind of a person and has not yet gained enough evidence to become more.
